Rotary for 18-30 years’ old: Rotaract
1 – What is Rotaract?
Rotaract is an international movement bringing together young people from 18 to 30 years convinced to contribute to building a better world through friendship and action. His motto: “The camaraderie by the service. “. The main axes of action are: social, humanitarian, professional and cultural.
Created in 1968, in the United States by the Rotary International, the ROTARACT now has 6,500 clubs serving 150,000 members in 130 countries of the world; which for France, 53 clubs and 390 members. The movement takes its name from the contraction of two words Rotary and Action.
A Rotaract club can exist only if it is sponsored, guided and counseled by a Rotary club.
Rotaract is actively involved:
- Professionally: By helping, for example, their members to improve their training through seminars on management and marketing conferences on professional ethics and career planning, etc …
- Socially: Realizing “service club” projects, and gathering the necessary funds by organizing all kinds of activities. Forging bonds of friendship, they want to contribute to a more friendly and humane world.
- On the International level: Taking initiatives to better understanding of foreign cultures and improve understanding between peoples. Thus, they aim to achieve at least one international project per year or collaborate. For this also, members of Rotaract gather the necessary funds.
Rotaract thus aims to bring together youth from around the world to develop a network of friendship and service and provide support to local authorities as well at world through regional actions, national or global.
Each Rotaractor, bringing his ideas and passion required for each new event, is an indispensable factor in the life and development of his club.
2 – How does Rotaract work?
Each club meets at least every two weeks under the chairmanship of a member elected for one year, for presentations, field trips, discussions and organizing multiple activities.
The president, his committee and club members, divided into committees are sovereign in their choice of action programs, while respecting the ethics of Rotary International.
Each club is required to undertake at least two actions per year, one in favor of the community and the other for developing international understanding.
3 – The Rotaract Club in the RC Quai d’Orsay?
Created in 2002 by the Rotary Club Paris Quai d’Orsay the Rotaract Club is composed of a dozen members.
Its actions are in different lines of action of Rotaract (social, humanitarian, professional and cultural).
The Rotaract Club Paris Quai d’Orsay meets every Tuesday from 20:00 at the “Transit” bar (inside the terminal building of the Invalides), 2 rue Robert Esnault-Pelterie, 75007 Paris.
